Why didn't Brutus eat spinach and defeat Popeye?!
Question: In the comic Popeye, Popeye defeated Brutus by eating a can of spinach.
Why didn't Brutus do the same thing? Since he was stronger than Popeye, his strengh would increase with the spinach to the point he could defeat Popeye no matter how much spinach Popeye ate.

"Bluto" did eat spinach in a few episodes.
Popeye fed him spinach in two episodes in order to get himself beaten up.
One occasion was so he can go to the Hospital where Olive worked.
Second occasion was at the beach when they promised not to fight. He fed Bluto spinach and Olive caught him beating Popeye up.
haha, gud question though, but eating spinach and got strong is only popeye and his family members can do it, not other person as, its kinda a family inherition...

for one reason, and one reason only. just tomake kids eat spinach, if spinach is used with good guys, and makes themn stronger then it will make the kids that watch want to eat spinach
i think he feels the same way about spinach as i do i rather get beat up than eat it
brutus did do it in one episode. i can't remember which one. has been really long since i watched popeye. its just a cartoon and the characters do what the directors plan
Because Brutus was a brute, hence the name. He looks like he just eats meat and thinks he's too manly to eat greens for strength.
Brutus did eat spinach and got the best of Popeye in one episode...He swallowed the spinach after Popeye squeezed a can too hard and it blasted past Popeye and into Brutus' face & mouth.
no one would really want to each spinach, and also, maybe it doesn't work on him.
personally, i think that it is in whatever popeye has in his pipe....haha

As stated above, he did. The other issue is the continuity thing. He was created by Segar for the animated cartoons, but Segar used him in the strip. As Bluto. Where he was generally a henchman of the Sea Hag. After Segar died they began calling him Brutus in the strip, but they also simplified what was in both the strip and the Fleischer cartoons a pretty complex relationship. Popeye was always smarter than Brutus/Bluto though.
ONLY REAL MEN EAT SPINACH.
