Kanon (2002 version)-This is the story of a boy who returns to the town he used to play in as a child. While there, he encounters all the girls he met back when he was a child. It relies heavily on arcs-meaning that it will focus all of its attention on one particular character for a few episodes before moving onto the next character, making you really love all the characters. It has some tearjerking parts and romance and mystery and quite a lot of drama. There's also some action/magic/swordfighting with one particular arc. Overall, very good. There was a new series made of Kanon in 2006 that was 24 episodes instead of 13. I haven't seen the new one, but it follows the same basic storyline so I'd imagine it's just as good.

Air-This is by the same makers as Kanon. About a boy named Yukito who finds himself in a small town where he meets three girls: the immature Misuzu, energetic Kano, and quiet Minagi. It's the story of Yukito's interactions with these three girls as he searches for a girl with wings in order to free her of an ancient curse. This anime starts off veeery slowly, but trust me, it's well worth it to watch the whole thing just to see the last 5 episodes or so. This anime relies on 4 arcs: 3 for the main characters and one that gives backstory. This anime made me sob twice while I was watching it-there's hints of romance, some comedy, and obviously a lot of drama. Again, watch this anime if only for the last few episodes (it only lasts 12 episodes).

Shakugan no Shana-This is about this girl named Shana who is a Flame Haze, ie she fights these monster things that take people's life forces. When a monster kills someone, the monster steals their existance, so Torches come in and replace the lost existance for a while in a sort of transition period before disappearing altogether and having everyone forget that person existed. Yuji, a high school boy, one day discovers that he is a Torch and that he will be disappearing soon. But what he doesn't know is that he is a special kind of Torch. There's romance between Yuji and Shana and definitely action (Shana has a sword. A big one.) and magic and some comedy.

Battle Athletes Victory-This is a sci-fi-sports-action anime set in the future about the daughter a great sports legend competing for the same spot her mother won.This anime has lots of comedy, drama, and friendship stories, although no romance. A very good anime.

D.N.Angel-This has elements of magic and fighting. The overall premise isn't romance or comedy, but both are involved. It's about a boy named Daisuke who, when thinking about his crush, turns into a phantom thief named Dark. The anime deals with his growing relationships between two girls and his fights as Dark. I really enjoyed this anime, and it's not lacking in the romance department.

1.Ouran High school Host Club
summary- Haruhi is a poor tomboyish student at a school for the ultra-wealthy, able to attend because of a scholarship, and unable to even afford a uniform. One day, she stumbles across the decidedly peculiar but very popular Ouran Host Club. She tries to leave, but accidentally breaks a vase, and unable to pay for it, she's told that she'll have to stay and do odd jobs. That is, until they decide she would be more valuable as a club member. Not realizing she's female due to her appearance, they fix her up and give her a male uniform. She's an instant hit, so they decide to have her keep up the charade even after they find out the truth. Haruhi, being average almost to a fault, doesn't know what to make of the unconventional activities of the Host Club (or of the even more unconventional members), but having little choice, she plays along. Before long, real bonds are formed, friends made, and Haruhi finds herself accepted in a way she could never have been otherwise in this affluent school.
2. Rosario + Vampire
Summary- Due to poor grades, Tsukune Aono, an average high school student, has been unable to get accepted into any private academy of his choice. By exceptional accident, the only school to accept him turns out to be anything but ordinary; the school is attended by youkai disguised as humans. Fearing for his life, he attempts to escape only to meet Moka Akashiya, a beautiful girl who just happens to be a vampire. Despite this, Tsukune decides to stay at the academy, hiding his human nature from students and teachers. Tsukune also discovers that when the rosary around Moka's neck is removed, her true nature emerges.
3. Lovely complex
summary- Koizumi Risa, taller than the average girl, and Atsushi Ootani, shorter than the average guy - their constant bickering and comical love-hate relationship is well-known throughout the school. They act similarly and love the same music, and their friendship is full of laughing, shouting at each other, and of course, lots of jokes about one another's height. But when Risa notices her feelings for Ootani growing, she's worried. She doesn't know if he can ever see her as more than a friend, and she's afraid that if she tells him how she feels, she could ruin what they have. With her friends rooting for her, she struggles to make him see how she feels about him, and that a romantic relationship between them can work. Oblivious Ootani doesn't make things easy for her, but she stubbornly perseveres in her own unconventional way, determined for her feelings to get through to him, and finally be returned. Hopefully she won't drive herself and everyone else crazy in the process.
4. Full metal alchemist
Summary- After losing their mother, Alphonse and Edward Elric attempt to bring her back using the forbidden science of human alchemy. However, alchemy operates on the theory of equivalent trade, and breaking the human alchemy taboo carries a heavy price. Ed loses his leg, and Al loses his body. Ed is able to seal Al's soul inside of a huge suit of armor, at the cost of his arm. Years later, Ed (now with two mechanical limbs) and Al (still trapped in the armor) leave their childhood home, each brother concerned with the other's happiness. Ed, who has a natural talent and skill for alchemy, becomes nationally certified and is soon known everywhere as the "Fullmetal Alchemist." Their true objective is to search for any information on the fabled Philosopher's Stone, hoping it will allow them to regain their old bodies. All of their hopes rest with this mythical stone, which may not even exist at all. However, the brothers soon learn that they are not the only ones after the powerful stone.
5.Peach Girl
summary- Peach Girl is about an average high school girl, Momo Adachi, who everyone thinks is a beach bunny / slut because of her tanned skin. The actual reason she is so tanned is because she was on the swim team and tans very easily. She likes a boy, Toji, who she heard only likes non-tanned girls. This causes her to question who she is and have low self esteem. She spends a lot of time trying to remake herself into the girl she believes he wants. However, she has a friend, Sae, who likes to go behind Momo's back and make her life terrible, mostly by trying to take Toji away from her. All the while there's another boy, Kairi, who is in love with Momo.
