Well yes and no,he dies,but them he is brought back to life. During when Gaara was captured the demon inside of him was extracted from him,because of this any demon that is taken out from the host dies. Gaara did in fact die,but later on Chiyo (was and elder from the sand village),goes to Gaara and use a technique she had developed,which is a life transferring technique,that Chiyo used to transfer her own life to Gaara.
Chiyo was was helped by Naruto chakra,to help bring Gaara back to life,because Chiyo was low on chakra after the fight with Sasori. Afterwords Chiyo had died as she sacrificed her own life energy,for Gaara. So,yes he did die,but then he was brought back to life. Gaara then recovers and is brought back to the sand village.

Gaara isnt exactly dead. Grandma Chiyo sacrafices herself to bring Gaara back to life. Dont worry, Gaara is alive.
He doesn't die jeez if you watched the episode on youtube elder Chio transfers her life so that Gaara won't die but elder Chio dies in his place
Gaara dies but he then gets resurrected by Chiyo! Dont be sad! Sure, he gets hes demon taken out but he can still do sand jutsu's and such!
Life isn't fair. Japanese animation does a much better job of portraying that cruelty than other countries' animation, especially American animation. They accept tragedies as matter-of-fact; the important thing is how does one proceed afterwards.

I noe when i saw that they said Gaara was dead i was lyke WTF!?! Why they gotta kill off my baby boy?!?! But he didn't die. Chiyo(the old lady) brought him back to life in exchange for her life.
