In episode 7 "Run, Kankuro" -- Kankurou goes up against Akasuna no Sasori of the Akatsuki because he ran after Gaara trying to save him, however Sasori and him started to fight. In episode 8 "Team Kakashi Deployed" -- Kankurou's attacks are all nullified by Sasori's scorpion-like tail. He eventually pierces Kankuro with his tail, inflicting him with a slow-acting poison.
Eventually Kankurou is found by Sand ninjas and he's taken back to the village however the poison has affected him greatly and he's at the verge of dying. But in the end Kankurou is saved by Sakura [because she's an expert medical ninja now]. Sakura extracts the poison in episode 11 "The Medical Ninja's Pupil".

He doesn't. I'm on the most recent manga chapter and he is still alive.
He doesn't die, but he was almost die, but Sakura help put the poisen out of Kankuro from Sasori (who put the poisen in Kankuro and almost killed him) . So really Kankuro doesn't die and I lovvveee Kankuro, 2. :3

He doesn't die. Although kankuro does get close to death. After running after Gaara (who was kidnapped by Deidara) ,kankuro runs into Sasori who is ready to fight him. Sasori proves to be to much for kankuro and kankuro gets hit with one of Sasori's attacks,that attack Sasori hit kankuro was covered in poison which made kankuro ill. Later,he is rushed back to the sand village hospital,where he is treated by Sakura. Sakura puts her medical skills to the test and extracts the poison from kankuro body. She then gives hi and anti-dote and he recovers. So,he doesn't end up die.
227 Sprinting Kankuro:
With Gaara captured and abducted, Kankuro goes after Deidara to get him back. However, his path is soon blocked by Sasori, whom doesn't plan on letting him pass.
228 Excursion, Kakashi's Group!:
With their leader abducted, the Hidden Sand Village requests assistance from Konoha. Tsunade sends Naruto, Sakura, and Kakashi out to help. Worried about her little brother, Temari tags along as well.
