going to a particular place (esp. conventions) as an anime character!
like clothing as them and have their styles!

Cosplay is "costume" play...pretty sure that's what it stands for, might be wrong...
It's when people dress up as characters from their favourite anime/cartoon/movie/comic etc...and act as them.
Usually people do it at fan conventions.
It's dressing up in costumes. Some do it to go to comic book conventions dressed as their favorite character. Others do it to spice up their sex lives. (I suppose some do it for both!)
its where you dress up like your fav anime or manga character and show off their handmade costumes and participate in best costume contests or just for fun.

I think its like a fancy dress party were every one dresses as the charaters oor programs that they were told to pick from.
And in some cases act out the character.

Cosplay is simple = dressing up like an anime character with your friends and going to a particular place.
its short for costume play you usaully do it at a anime convention (those are fun ^_^) and you dress up as your fav. character once i cosplayed as an ANBU member and another time one of the characters from trinity blood its really fun you should try it

and it becomes popular here in U.S. and Canada...even here in my country (Philippines)....i went to Cosplay last year and it was awesome....
my girlfriend and i went to Cosplay last year, she dressed as Lara Croft from Tomb Raider (and she looks hott!) and i dressed as Sasuke,..i look emo though...lol
