Did you notice that many anime antagonists end with 'something-maru'?!
Question: Gin Ichimaru
Sesshomaru
Orochimaru
and others
Answers: Gin Ichimaru
Sesshomaru
Orochimaru
and others
'Maru' is just a suffix that is often added at the end of a Japanese name for young males in samurai families. They would use this name until they were recognized as adults, then they adopt a new name.
There's also many protagonist characters with names ending in -maru:
Konohamaru
Shikamaru
Akamaru
Btw, "maru" means many things but not snake. It can mean: circle, globe, whole, complete, perfection, and purity. Lol Orochimaru is not any of these things.
It's because maru means snake in Japanese.
So an antagonist would have a snake-like personality.
sesskomaru aint a bd guy just misunderstood lol
its the way the creator address him as a bad guy...so that he not accidently make him as hero or sorta...so itachi is not a bad guy???
Yeah, I did notice! I also noticed how "maru" is pronounced differently in Naruto and InuYasha (think Sesshomaru vs. Orochimaru/Shikamaru) lol, Shikamaru is a good guy tho! And Akamaru...
no I haven't really but that is preety werid
Maru generally means circle or zero, and is most commonly placed at the end of names for ships. Antagonists aren't the only ones that get maru at the end of their name. Also, there are just as many, if not more, antagonists without the maru.
Hebi is Japanese for snake, btw, just to correct that first answer.
like the shishiwakamaru (i didnt make that up, it's real)
