Okay,Walking Dead is the only horror comic that I read, so if it is more horror comics that you want, I sorry I can't really help you, maybe 30 Days of Night, but if you are just looking for some solid story telling like Walking Dead, without the zombies, I can give you some suggestions.
Y: The Last Man
Its the story of Yorick, the last man on earth after a plague kills all othe males, of any species, in an instance, other than him and his monkey. The story is about him trying to get to his girlfriend...in Austrailia, and how people react to him when they find out he is a guy. He is occupanied by a lesbian doctor who was working on cloning and a secret agent. The series just ended, so they should all be available in TPBs soon, I think 2 books left.
100 Bullets
Basically, plot is a man gives people who have been seriously wronged a case with 100 untracable bullets, a gun, and evidence that shows who screwed them over. You can kill anyone with the bullets and the cops won't investigate it. The series grows from there and keeps growing as there is more that meets the eye with the case.
Ex Machina
The only superhero in the world becomes mayor of New York after retring and preventing one of the planes from hitting a tower on 9/11. Its about the problems he faces as mayor, as he has no experience, but will do things the ways he feels is right, from marrying a gay couple to hunting down a terrorist with his power (he can talk to machines).
I would say look at titles printed by Vertigo as the make comics that are aimed at adults...the first 2 i listed are from them and others they print are really good, like The Exterminators.
