I know who Afro Ken is, but I'm not sure the majority of Americans do. You might want to save it, but I don't thikn it'll gain value in the US. In thirty years you might be able to sell them for a slight profit in Japan.
I would sell them while his character is still popular, but that's just me. Do what you feel is best for you.

Look on eBay and other sites to see what other similar items are selling for before you even think of selling. Also do a web search and see what other people that are interested in the same item think it's going to be worth.

It's a little puppy with a colorful afro that was very popular at Hot Topic in 2002-2003,but then it became played out (in the U.S.A.),but it's very popular in the U.K.(& yes he's from Japan). ^_^
