Since Japanese has set sounds (which is strange to us), all their vowels stay the same. When in romaji (English letters), they look/sound something like this:
A = ah (like in "almost")

U = oo (like in "tool")
E = eh (like in "emerald")
O = oh (like in "oh mah gawd!")
