Some of them are based on various people Matt Stone and Trey Parker know. Stan is based on Trey and Stan's family is based on Trey's family (named after them too) and Kyle is based on Matt and Kyle's family is based on Matt's family. Mr. Mackey is based on Trey's school counselor, Butters is based on someone that works on the show, I'm sure there are many more as well!

it would make southpark look like the parents dont really take care of there kids if u mean by the attitude lol
as for the names if thats wat u mean i would say every town city wat ever lol theres gotta b a kenny stan kyle and eric as for them havin the same last names i doubt it but if they do its jus a coincidence lol
I think it's loosely based on the creators of the show when they were kids. And the other kid is Butters.
