Okay this is one reason I am kinda upset with the makers of the anime. The manga has more information in it that the anime didn't show.
Chiaki found out who Maron was before he met her. Access told Chiaki all about Maron being a Kaitou.
Chiaki was walking down the street one day and for some reason he was able to see Access. He caught Access and asked him some questions (like who he was). Access told him about the issue with Fin (and how see was deceiving Maron) and Chiaki decided to help. Thus, Chiaki left home and started living next to Maron.
