In Spiderman, why are Aunt May and Uncle Ben so old?!

I'm guessing that there was a large age gap between between Ben Parker and his younger brother which would explain why Ben and May are older.
That, plus when Spidey was created and it was needed to have Peter live with his Aunt and uncle Marvel and his creators wouldn't have wanted him to be raised by a young couple. Since in those situations it was usually the matronly aunt or other relative who would take in the now orphaned child.
Because that is the reality.
I guess we will never know!
Ben and May were a lot older than Ben's brother and wife when they had Peter. That's all there is to it. Pete is supposed to be about thirty,. May's age has never been definitely established.

well, it would be more logical to see that Peter Parker's dad is Ben younger brother.
well aunt may got younger each year so if that keeps up she will be his sexy older sister and i could never figure out how an 80 year old could have a thirty something sister talking about uncle ben
Peters Dad was the second first child if you know what I mean.
