Er...Naruto???!
Question: This show....I seriously don't get it. I mean the character designs aren't too great and the animation pretty much sucks. The plot, from what I can tell, is some weird ninja kids go around fighting bad guys. Er...would someone like to disagree? I just think it's overrated.
Once again feel free to disagree and open my eyes to "THE WORLD OF NARUTO"

Hmm... it's your opinion if you don't like Naruto, but I'll try to convince you ;)
First off, how many episodes have you watched? Because I think it's very wrong to judge whether an anime is good or bad by only watching a couple of episodes.
Second, did you watch it in English? The dub is absolutely horrible and it's completely massacred. Watch it in the original please, much better.
I think the animation is actually good. Although it's nothing that you can compare to, for example, Death Note or Elfen Lied [those were exceptional], but I've seen worse. I actually like the Naruto characters and how they are drawn.
The plot, I find it very good. It's not lame with no point at all, but quite a thick and intricate plot. Yes, it's about ninjas, and yes, they aren't exactly the sterotypical ninjas. These ninja's are loud and vibrant and have chakra. And true, that it's about fighting bad guys, however there is much more. It teaches about friendships and how great a bond is. For example, the main character was a friendless boy who was shunned from the community, however with perserverence he gained friends and power. Now he must find his friend after he's left him just to obtain more power.
It's sort of hard to explain cause there have already been so many episodes and lots is happening, but once you get into it, it's really good.
If you feel that it's over-rated than that's fine with me. You don't have to like Naruto, but I suggest you watch or learn a little bit more about it before you make your decision.

Naruto wants to become aknowledged and known for his greatness. Along the way he makes good friends but his best friend is Sasuke who's also like is rival in some way. Naruto feels that Sasuke knows what it's like being alone and feels they aree somehow the same. But Sasuke is blinded by his wanting for revenge so he abandons his village so that he can gain greater power to be able to kill his brother. Naruto tries to bring him back but lost in battle to him. Naruto made a promise to Sakura that he'll bring Sasuke back... besides Sasuke is also a preious person to Naruto himself. So after episode 136 are the fillers. The fillers had episodes where Naruto tries find Sasuke but those only gets you confused.
But the thing that i think makes Naruto so good are the emotions. They are told through eyes of a male orphan wanting to find a place in his world, he wants his existence to be notice,cared about, loved and for it to make an important impact, that's why he tries so hard. They have real good tear jerkers because they seem to share a life of a ninja: not being able to have a loving life. Those who do seem to have a loving life seems weaker than those who doesn't have one. it's like they want to keep that special feeling so they try hard to protect those precious to them and become "truly stong" and accomplish great things...
wouldn't you want that kind of power instead of one where you sliced a bizillion heads just to rule the people you just slaughter?

I don't like the anime much either. I still consider it a good anime, but nothing more. It's no where near my top list. It's more for the ages 13-16 years. It's a bit more kiddish for me. :)
Naruto is not the best anime I have seen, and yes, I do think it's overrated. I like it, but IN MY OPINION, I've seen better. I'm not going to disagree with you entirely, but it is a pretty good anime when it gets down to it. ^_^ Most of the characters are likeable, and the animation isn't that bad, I like it actually. There is a point to the kid, Naruto, fighting the bad guys though. He wants to be the Hokage of his village so people can finally start respecting and noticing him and then it takes off from there. ^_^
I honestly hated Naruto for years... and I mean hate. I would make terribly immature faces when anyone spoke of it, and was a happy little anime nazi who thought it was a waste of fandom.
I'm such a fangirl of it now.
The story is better than you think it is, once you learn to skim through the more 'dragged out' scenes. Naruto himself, in the original series, annoyed me, but I fell in love with him after a while. The story takes interesting turns, and there are times when it gives me chills. If you can manage to find ONE good thing you like about it, I reccomend giving it a try. You might be glad for it like I was. :)
if you don't like the anime then why force yourself to. i am a naruto-fan and i won't waste my time just to please you to like the anime. i mean just shut up.
naruto is about a 12 year old boy who had a demon fox sealed inside him at birth by the 4th hokage(leader of there village) now none can tell naruto about it or talk about it and it naruto becoming a ninja and unavailing the secrets of his past and present

I think Naruto is overall a bad anime, the characters, the plot, i was never interested in it.

naruto is cool i mean sure they are kids but if you watched eng subbed not Dubbed there will be more reading but it will be less corny the dubbed are translated by cartoon network for kids and even the subbed ones start off kinda lame but after a while it gets good i hated the dubbed ones and in naruto shippudden i know i misspelled it i don care he is older like 17 or 18 i think if you like anime and you give naruto a shot u will like it to but keep in mind they have fillers if you want you can skip first 20 episodes then try watching a few like 5-10 at least if u still dont like it try shippudden

naruto suxs but watch all the animes and then go onto naruto shippuden because thats better then naruto except u need to watchh all the narutos to get naruto shippuden
