Anyways, that's a tough question, they are both from different genres; Fuuruba is a Shoujo genre, and isn't FMA Shonen genre?
If you are trying to figure which is better, when they are both from different genres, you won't be able to get a good answer.
It's more advisable that you "compete" two series that are from the same genre.
hard to compare those two, b/c like the person above me said, they're from different genres, so there really isnt anything to compare between the two of them. fruits basket is a cute shojo story while fma is an awesome shonen story.

How can you compare the two that 's a hard one. For me I like both when I want a light, cute, funny and sappy story I go to fruit baskets when I want a story that has drama, action and suspense I go for FMA. They both have sad stories but it is truely hard to compare the two.
They're both really good! It's kind of hard to compare them because they're totally different...
FMA is an action type of anime and Furuba is more of a shojo type of manga >.<
