Like the words deer and sheep, the singular and plural forms of the word "Pokémon" do not differ, nor does each individual species name; in short, it is grammatically correct to say both "one Pokémon" and "many Pokémon". My son is 8 and collects the cards (for game-playing) and is also into all the DS games. Basically, the do "battle" with their strengths and different battle moves to gain points and Badges within the game.

It's a littl made up creature. In the Pokemon world, Pokemon are these creatures with super powers that live all over the world. And these people, called Pokemon masters train them and they battle their pokemon against eachother to win badges. The goal is to be the greatest Pokemon master.
