I absolutely LOVED the manga but the anime turned me off.
I hated the ending of the anime.
It changed so much.
I consider the anime to be so-so.
The manga is a different matter though.
It gets 10 stars.
I watched like the first few episodes of death note and didn't really get into it, it's become one of those animes that I watch when I'm bored, I think I'd rather have more of an action anime so I perfer shows like Bleach but it has a good story line, and Ryuuk is just too creepy...

The best Anime and Manga I've ever encountered.
From the outset, it's plot line was absolutely gripping, the whole concept of the idea of a notebook that can kill.
It's a twisted story, in which if it's not what your looking for, then it won't have as much appeal.
But wow. I tell you, I'd grown accustomed to animes like Naruto and Bleach, and to watch such an anime like Death Note, changed my whole concept of Animes all together. It's the most spine chilling, absolute best Anime ever made. The Manga is better than the Anime, in ways of slightly more detail.
And then you have the live action movies too, what can I say.
Death Note is simply uncomparable, to sum it all up in one word, is Apocalyptic.
I love the japanese voices way more than english. If you are going to watch this awesome show, watch it in japanese if you can. The only voice that's good in the english version is Ryuk's. This show is great, because it's not your typical "packed with action" shounen series. It's nice to actually have a plot that makes sense. I love this seires as a manga, but the animation in the anime is superb. nothing better!

i love it! the characters are awsome and the plot line is intelligent and interesting. you dont just sit there mindlessly in front of the tv, it gets you thinking and it always has you guessing. probly one of the best animes ive ever watched(besides bleach and naruto)

yes, it's my favourite anime besides another one, I just liked the plot and more importantly the characters, no matter how they look, no matter how good/bad are they, no matter how weird they are, you just can't help but fall in love with them!
I just love it, I love everything about it, even the shinigami world black apples that ryuk used to eat, lol, I know they look nasty!
this anime is one of the best out there, you should never expect anything while watching/reading it, unexpectable things happen in it, you should only sit and watch, it gets you hooked on its first episode, it's amazing and great!!
