When Byakuya Kuchiki scatters (particularly during Bankai) why the heck...?!

Zanpaktous does not hert their owner. But when cut/stabbed it might have a different affect:
Byabuya's Senban Zakura can protect him by encapsulating him inside a pink bladeshaped cacoon. It dodn't hert him at all (did when first Ich used bankai against Byakuya. When Ichi called Bankai a powerfull Getsuga tenshoue hit from the sword. Senbanzakura protected byakuya from it)
When it stabbed in to Ichigo, he can metirialize Zangetsu or go into that Horizontal world where Zangtsu is (his subconsiouse) - e.g: Bountou Arc, when Ichi fights Kariya just before they go into Soul sociaty
When Soi-Fong stabbed her Zanpaktou on her upper arm, the Homonken apiers and counters all the poison in her --> also from the Bountou Arc
And another interesting phinominan of the Zanpaktou is if the owner wishes it can transfer it's powers to any one who's been stabbed in the heart. Like in the very first episode Rukiya stabbed her sword in to Ichi's heart to transfer her Shinigami Powers to him.
But it's not confirmed that it's only to the humans or for any one whome the owner wishes (may be they have to have a greater spiritual energy to withstand it like Ichi?)

Because it's his sword, he commands it, and he doesn't want them to hit him so they don't. Plus, they are all aimed at his opponent, so he would have to be directly between his foe and the shards for it to get him, but most likely he would make them stop moving if that happened.
it's because he is the one that commands it.
so it's not like it would backfire on him,
or else there wouldnt be a point in any of the soup reapers to own a zanpakto
