Well it technically wasn't Light that killed L but he is the reason he is dead.
Light forced Rem[the girl shinigami] to write L's real name into the Death Note or else Misa would die.
By writing L's real name into the death Note, Rem has obviously altered Misa's Lifespan so she will live, therefore killing Rem & L.

Yes and it sucks!!! I liked Kira to begin with but after I saw the way he killed him it made me hate him!!
L does die. but light doesn't kill him. it was the death god rem who killed L. she was trying to protect misa.
