Well, Superman and Spider-Man are a big part of it. But mainly it's just that S is a very common letter to begin words with in general.
With J, M and X, there's very obvious reasons for there being loads of titles (Justice League/Society for J, Marvel-fill-in-the-blank titles for M, X-Men/X-Factor/X-etc for X). On the other hand, a lot of the Super- and Spider-Man- books don't actually start with S (i.e. Action Comics, Adventures of Superman, Amazing Spider-Man, Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man, etc).
Your particular case is oddly clustered...my own comics collection has a lot of S titles, but nowhere near 80%. More like 10%.
please tell me you didnt make up the list...
