'Red Sky' was the second of the two tracks produced by Dave Edmunds. Dispite a degree of disappointment that Edmunds had stuck to a traditional 'Quo' sound, the band were pleased with the recordings and this second single from their 'In The Army Now' album also scored a chart hit - reaching number nineteen in the UK. The flipside track 'Don't Give It Up' had originally been written by Richard Lightman and John Edwards and performed by Edwards' own band called 'Rhino' back in 1983 - although never released. This track was also recorded by Rick Parfitt (also featuring John Edwards and Jeff Rich) for his own solo album.
The two tracks featured on the additional single included with double-pack copies were the original recordings previously issued as singles in 1977 and 1979 respectively. To further promote this release the record company commissioned a batch of special jars of coffee to be made, similar in appearance to the 'Red Mountain' brand.
