What's with anime dubs?!
Question: Ok, 4kids, Funimation for example....They take Jap anime, dub it(horribly), edit it(censored...change jokes...horribly done as well) and then try to release such trash and aim it at children?
I don't understand this proccess at all. They buy the license of an anime that is successful in Japan, take it here, change all this crap around, and most of the time, it's not as successful in Japan and these fools are speechless?
What I don't understand is, why not just, buy the license of the anime, ****, even look at the free subbed versions, get your voice actors to act that, and release it? What's all this jibber jabber about editting/changing? It's not your original work...It's a hit for a reason, leave as be.
Personally, I'm boycotting dubs til they stop this idiocrasy....I'll watch my next dub 10-20+ years from now. :p

They 'politically correct' it, because obviously America is too spineless to accept the real thing. Americans look at cartoons are shows for kids, and if a cartoon came to amercia that showed homosexuality or perversion (the ecchi jokes in most anime) as a normal thing, most parents would be in an uproar.
I can't stand dubs either, for that reason and one other: American voice actors are HORRIBLE and should be ashamed of themselves. The way they pronounce japanese words are just plain wrong. They don't even try. They have no respect for the language at all.

yeah, i agree. fansubs are better, and teach you more of the language and japanese culture, because they're generally closer to the original than dubs. also japanese sounds cooler than english
it's just a way for some people 2 make money... even if it's not 2 much. they don't care about the children that view this crap!
Yeah, i know what you mean, especially 4kids. Funimation has improved, but still it's anime dubs still suck. Viz is also not as bad as 4kids, but the sub is still better.
4Kids, yes is bad. But Funimation?? I usually watched my anime subbed but I always watch the Funimation dub of Fullmetal Alchemist. I like it better than the original. Dubs are ok if they stick to the storyline, some people dont like to read while they watch...
Ya,I know what you mean. Like for if you ever watch the real version o the show and then see the dub,all the good parts are taken out from it has well as the episode being cut.

Anyhow, some people actually prefer the dubbed version of anime, because it is easier for them to understand and follow westernized material...

If you are so into anime, why don't you just watch the original works in their original language? Because with any translation even "subbed" work you are losing some of the "meaning" and taking away the "soul" anyhow...
to be honest i dont mind dubs some of them arent that bad but some of them r rly bad
honestly i love the japanese versions of anime with english subs! but some aren't so bad like naruto but i still listen to the subbed version a lot. i have listened to clips of dubbed anime and immediately switched right back over...... they kinda kill it T-T
The Japaneses language does not translate into English perfectly, therefore, some words are changed. I agree with you though, Card Captor Sakura used to be here untill they had to cancel the series because they were making to many changes. Most anime, you can get on dvd where they are uncut and uncencored (and still dubbed). Apparently, who ever thought of the Idea for dubbing an anime, apperantly thought we were all to lazy to read subtitles.
Just don't watch it. Theres plenty of Fansubs out there, with much better translations, anyway & Its free.
Anime isnt as big in our culture as it is in Japan, & the stereotype of an anime fan is a psycho 13 year old with anime as their only escape from overprotective parents & a failed social life- thus, thats who theyll market to! It sucks & leaves everyone else in the dust, but its not like there arent ways around it.
