i personally think the are uber weird
animes the style but theres different genres of animes anime looks different to cartoons and not all animes are like the ones you describe plus animes are for children aswell as adults just there are child cartoons such as scooby doo and adult cartoons such as south park etc so dont generilse by the animes uve seen plus at the end of the day anime and cartoons are both made up like other normal tv shows so why cant adults watch cartoons its basicaly art and the artists deserve appreciation
Anime is GREAT!!!!!! I don't know what you're talking about! It's a form of art for one and they are bordered between cartoons and real life. Anyone could clearly see it's not like a normal cartoon which is why it is called ANIME not a CARTOON. See different. And the girls do not sound the same. I don't know what animes you've been watching, but the most of the storylines are not lame. As for the girls looking like 12 year olds, I've never seen a 12 year old with huge boobs. Have you even watch many anime to talk?
uhm.. I don't know what anime you watch [it seems like your into hentai with the 'porn' and '2 cm skirts' ] but it's not all like that. Some, yeah. It's a bit over the top with the slutty-ness of the girls. But others, actually have really good story lines and are quite addicting. So, why don't you get out of the hentai, or hey, since your complaining about the girls, maybe your more into yaoi, and check out some of the decent stuff before you start ragging on other people because they happen to like it. And it's not like they made up some name for it so adults don't seem weird, it's Japenese. Thats what it's called. And I for one find NOTHING wrong with adults who like anime and cartoons. Most of them are pretty cool. So are the teens, and so are the kids. Go down to an anime convention. You'll meet some really cool people. No. It's not weird. No. It's not for losers. And last I checked, 'dork' actually is an alteration of the word 'penis' or 'dick' so uhm. yeah. Might want to check your word usage there. So yeah. Why don't you go ridicule someone else and offend another group of people. Theres nothing wrong with anime. You should look into other types before dissing it completely, and quite honestly, you are REALLY pissing me the fsck off. Go get hit by a fscking bus.

Animes can be dramatic, romantic, funny, action anything!
So it appeals to a diversity of people.
I personaly love anime and think that it's a lot better than American cartoons!
The story lines can be very deep and the artwork is so beautiful unlike American cartoons which looks like they were drawn by 6 year olds because the technique is so simple.
I have cried many times watching anime because it is so touching or sad.
I just love that effect.
It also depends on what anime though.
I will agree that some animes are very stupid.
But if you get a dramatic romantic one like Full Moon wo Sagashite or a funny romantic one like Fruits Basket anime is very entertaining and good.

You can go ahead an watch your cartoon network shows and nickelodeon shows, but they will never add up to the amount of pleasure and anime brings

I used to think the same thing until I watched some anime's like naruto and golden boy.
Okay first of all, anime is not a 'dubbed' name by fans. It is the japanese way of saying animation. So in your face there. And I love anime. And I'm not even 17!!! Not all of them are like that. The fighting shows are the best and they have wonderful plots. And girls don't sound the same. It's not a cult. American cartoons suck anyways. So shut the hell up because Japanese animation is way better than American. And that's sad coming from an American.

for your info anime doesn't mean cartoon. it means japanese animation. they are not weird, don't judge a book by its cover. there are too many genres of anime, not to mention that's not even the animes. i bet you haven't watched more than 10 animes yet. as for me it is about 150, so don't judge it, coz you haven't seen even the half of it. in case you didn't know cartoon shows doesn't even make sense, because every episodes are different and doesn't even continue. it's always the bad guy get caught, and after that episode they get out. what is up with that? in anime it is different the episodes goes along with the plot of story. i recommend you watch shounen anime, and you won't be able to say it is lame. you might not be able to handle it. also about the porn, we, anime lovers don't consider it an anime. in anime they sound the same coz they hire professional japanese dubbers, it is actually hard to find them.

No, anime is not for losers! It is not a "different name" so that people who watch it will not be "branded as 'adults who watch cartoons'". Anime actually refers to the Japanese word "animation", so you are actually insulting the Japanese language.
Yes, although there are some Anime series that are frankly "lame", there are several ones that are quite fantastic. Have you actually sat down and tried to watch a highly recommended series before? If you did, you would not feel this way about anime. You would notice that not all of the storylines are lame, not all of the girls wear two cm skirts and sound the same, and not every anime series includes porn!
To be quite honest, by asking this question it makes you seem extremely foolish. It is quite obvious that you do not know anything about anime, and therefore should not judge it.
Since you clearly haven't seen any good series yet, I suggest you go and watch one and try to redeem yourself. If you'd like to ask a sensible question, ask if there are any great anime series that people would like to recommend.

And what's wrong with adults watching cartoons?! People of any age can watch what they want, cartoons are just like any other tv programme except more time and effort has been put into them that some lame soaps.
