Does anyone else find it amusing/sad that Avatar, which is geared towards kids h!

Question: characterization, plot, and coherence than most of the plot-based cartoons and animes geared for adults?

Katara is far more interesting than the overwhelming vast majority of boring over- sympathetic, sex-object, whiny, useless anime females

Toph is just fun in her cynical angry way

Sokka is amazing. It's rare that a children's cartoon's humor makes me laugh but he's the perfect exception to that

Zuko has to be one of the most developed "villians" I have ever seen.

I don't think I've seen this level of complexity in a cartoon since the FOX Spider-Man cartoon.

Yeah, I've thought the same.

Katara would be a sex-object if the show weren't on Nickelodeon. Let's face it, Avatar is that rare gem that sparkles only because it is geared towards children.

I'm surprised the network responsible for Ren & Stimpy and Spongebob Squarepants (both greatly entertaining to a point) has let them get away with so much serious content.

For example, in one of the earlier episodes, they actually showed Zuko 'acquiring' his trademark scar.

Yeah Zuko and the other girl kissing was like a real relationship.
