They think it's weird and their not use to it. Trust me, I know how you feel and it feels awful. But, I have some Naruto friends where I can talk about future Naruto episodes and stuff. I mean they think it's weird, but I bet some of those people talk about even weirder stuff.
They are jealous and want to be like us

Cartoons are associated with children and immature people and since most people only think of anime as a cartoon they believe we are immature which is completely the opposite for most people.
People put down others when they think that is what they are supposed to do or to make themselves feel better. I have seen all kinds like all kinds of things. Maybe they just need more life experience. I really don't like the judgmental.
because some people jusy have nothing better to do than talk about the things that people love and sometimes even the people themselves.

Well, it's just how our society views cartoons as being a "children's thing" that most people should/will grow out of.
I don't watch anime anymore, but, yeah, I can see why being made fun of for liking a show would be annoying. I say, just keep watching what you want to watch and ignore anyone who tries to call you a loser for it. :)

Ohhh, I love this question! In my opinion, the majority of people think that anime is "weird" because it orginated from a different country than ours (Japan in our case). I mean, come on! Just because it originated from another country doesn't mean that it's weird and stupid! Plus, if you notice in a lot of classic Disney movies (Snow White, Tarzan, anything besides the 3D crap like Finding Nemo.... blaghk!), you'll find that it has the basic structures of anime characters like the nose, hands, etc. So most folks shouldn't be talking s*** about that. We watch it too! Japanese manga artists just tend to make their art drawings of people pop out a bit more than we do. I think I've proven my point. Thank you!
The majority of the posters on YA are quite young. I am older and I can just tell you from experience to just ignore those "haters" out there. These people obviously feel some sort of power (of what I have no clue) when they ridicule or bully others because 99.9% in their real life they are the ones being bullied/persecuted. Instead of feeling anger or hatred towards these poor souls, just feel pitty.
Because people fear inferior to us and they feel scared and have to talk trash about others to make themselves feel better,but seriously though it just that some people take the word of others and just assume that it is bad without having to experience it them selves. Maybe if people actually watched the anime/manga the were making fun of it they would like it.
I think it's because people don't understand that anime isn't usually kiddy cartoons and stuff. They haven't given it a chance and taken the time to make an educated judgment about it. I have a friend who says that her mom thinks that all anime is "cartoon porn" and that's just not true.
You ask a very valid question. I think that people pick on us because they don't understand what this whole thing is about. I know that every guy has at least seen one episode of DBZ, or Yu-Gi-Oh, and every girl has at least seen one episode of Sailor Moon. maybe they lost the magic that once rested in their hearts and now turn to obsene things for the same spark of life. i think that if they could go back to their childhood ways and dig deep for the magic that is just lying dormant within their hearts, they would understand that everything that they say like: "how do you still watch that" or ' "how are you doing that?" It will all become clear...........
