Well, I went to one when I lived in Southern California about 4 years ago. I was going to go a "Sasuke" WAY before Naruto came out in the U.S. but I didn't know the name of Sasuke or Naruto at the time.
Anyways, if that convention you're going to is anything like the one I went to, take this in mind.
1- Get ready to wait in a loooong line to get your tickets to enter.
2- There are going to be a lot of people dressed it what ever it is you'll be dressed in so take a cell phone in case you get lost or loose touch of your friends and family.
3- Take some outside food because food there will be ski high! Also, take some drinks like water and soda or what ever.
4- It might happend, but get ready because some people might want to take a picture with you because they like your costume.
5- There might be some famous people so take a autograph book and a camera with you, last time I went, I saw that Rob Van Dam guy from the WWF.
6- Be ready because there will be a lot of pushing and shoving because of all the people that might be there.
