What is the appeal of animae?!

Question: I never understood it.

Answers: I never understood it.

It's awesome!
Animes can be dramatic, romantic, funny, action anything!
So it appeals to a diversity of people.
I personaly love anime and think that it's a lot better than American cartoons because the story lines can be very deep and the artwork is so beautiful unlike American cartoons which looks like they were drawn by 6 year olds because the technique is so simple.
But like me and my other anime loving friend say anime is not a Japanese cartoon it's more like a Japanese animated soap opera.
I have cried many times watching anime because it is so touching or sad.
I just love that effect.
It also depends on what anime though.
I will agree that some animes are very stupid.
But if you get a dramatic romantic one like Full Moon wo Sagashite or a funny romantic one like Fruits Basket anime is very entertaining and good.
But some people just don't like it.
I tried showing my friend some anime and after a couple minutes she just had to sign of any interest.
But it all depends on what you like.
So some people like anime and some people don't.

cartoons

goood question...i wana know to

Well, anime series tend to have more "in depth" drawn-out storylines and character development than most western cartoons. The art style is different and refreshing. It also carries the appeal of just being something from another culture for lots of western people.

You either get it or you don't. I don't!!!

and if you get a logical answer, please share it. I have never understood the concept at all.....

Nice drawing style, good plot, witty humor and wonderful running jokes. It's much deeper than normal cartoons, but they can do things that reality TV can't do, too. It's all right if you don't understand it, I'm just an anime nerd. (n_n)

Anime is culture. Anime always have good storys and you can always find a anime about ANYTHING. i prefer manga over anime but thats what i still like about anime.

spelled "anime". it is much more like movies than like western cartoon tv shows. the plot is in depth and the characters are complicated. there are a few mindless ones that rely on slapstick humor, but most are mature.

for a first-time anime watcher, try Fullmetal Alchemist. FMA is the EPITOME of good action anime. It's not just about HOW they fight- it's WHY they fight that's important. If you aren't interested in action and are more interested in romance, try Fruits Basket. It contains a few really good love triangles, and it's funny too! There's also the manga, which is in book form. In my opinion, the Fruits Basket manga is better than the anime. The FMA manga has a completely different plotline, so it really can't be compared to the anime.

Hope this helps!

A lot of people will tell you they like the continuing story from episode to episode and how witty they are...Rocky & Bullwinkle and Underdog did the same thing in the early 60s...and were a lot funnier.
A lot will tell you they like the action...there is a lot of good action in some anime...I can agree with that.

A lot of people will tell you they like the animation. The "animation" is hardly a step above that on Scooby-Doo. Yes, the drawings are fantastic and the posing of the characters is good, but the actual ANIMATION is terrible "limited animation". Watch almost any anime and you will notice a lot of "held cels" meaning the character will not move for a few seconds at a time...and by "limited animation" I mean that a character's mouth and eyes will move, but the rest of his head will remain stationary for long periods of time. It's really a way to cut costs with television animation. It's not a bad thing, in the right hands it could be very effective and look less cheap and awkward.

I think a lot of people confuse the character designs and posing the characters with actual animation.

To answer your question...it's all a matter of ones own taste.
Have a star!

You must think all anime is alike, well, just like movies, there are many different types of genres. The stereotypical anime genre is probably the harem style. Which I can relate to you because I can't stand those shows either. Some anime, like certain fantasy types...like Escaflowne, or some killer mechas like Evangelion are much different and much more appealing. I also enjoy Samurai and Ninja anime (NOT Naruto) that are very serious and have some amazing plot lines... Rurouni Kenshin, Samurai X, Ninja Scroll (The Movie).

I can understand your point, but you have to realize that there is good and bad in everything. I dislike a lot of anime, but I have also enjoyed many titles. Please don't act like if you've seen one, you have seen them all because that way of thinking really forces you to miss out on some great stories.

great plot.
great drawings.
great depth in the characters
a lot of twists
it doesn't get predictable

anime rocks.

well its hard to explain. im an anime fan and i dont know why. but ill try. its basicly a world of anything can happen. the characters can be anything and act like any thing they want. theres tons of anime out there all different and unique in their own way. the characters of all anime have one thing in common. they alll have a backround history that makes them make certain disisions in the future. and its art. it has a story and meaning behind it that is both entertaining and informative.they can be action packed, funny, romantic, sad , scary or all of the above. one persons view on anime is different than someone elses so check it out for yourself and see what you think. i can almost guarentee you will be entertained in the process.

I'm a huge anime fan my self. I think the reason is that with anime people see things they normally don't see it real life as well as in cartoons. Anime show a different side to things as well as interesting plots, and creative charters designs. As well as the drawing it self that it put into anime and bright colors. Anime kind of takes animation to whole norther level in my opinion. Its a creative way to show different styles pf creativity. Most anime are filled with action and adventure as well as drama, which really get you into the show and enjoy. Throughout show characters as well as plots change so you get really into it and want to see what happens with rest of the show.
