well, these are some of those i like, and what i think is not as cliched as some of those really well-known animes like naruto and inuyasha and etc. (no offence, really!)
try these! i think they're really fantastically addictive! you could iread up more on the animes on wikipedia first before watching, but really, i suggest not, cuz it not only spoils it, but also, there is absolutely no description of animes that could be as good as it really is, so descriptions and summaries really don't do justice to the great animes!!

rurouni kenshin for sure, I am not much of an anime person but I sat and watched a few episodes with my brother and ended up watching every season and movie. its great! its not all over the place like some and its not cutesy and fluffy. good story, good characters.
im not sure if this is anime, but "Avatar: The last airbender" is really good!

here's the synops:
Nanami Takahashi, a 15 year old high school student, falls in love with and begins dating the most popular guy in school, Motoharu Yano. However, their relationship is not easily maintainable. Yuri's past with Yano goes deeper than one might suspect and her feelings run deeper than she portrays in public.
