Why are most anime fangirls into yaoi?!

Question: I personally hate it with a passion, but I always wondered why most tend to have a liking to yaoi. I like to google over straight men thank you very much.

What so attractive about fem boys falling in love with each other?

I really don't know... I enjoy yaoi, hate yuri, and I've found that almost all yaoi fanfictions are written by straight women and not gay men.

I agree with the forbidden aspect, as well as the lack of the irritating female steryotypical love interest. Screaming Mimi male characters drive me just as nuts as female ones do, but they're less common if there's no women involved. I'm extremely picky with what I read, and most of the yaoi I do read is lighter on the yaoi, heavier on the plot side, so I can't give 100% verification on why women like yaoi on account of being so finicky myself. If it's not something dark and with a plot I won't touch it. I'm even pickier with art, and many of the yaois I've seen (even those I won't read) just have the over-stylized beauty that got me into anime in the first place.

Maybe curiosity? A male on male relationship is something a woman will never see into?

Possibly stemming from how most japanese male singers that we drool over (sorry Miyavi) look so feminine, yet we find them attractive (as well as know they are straight, despite appearances)? I still google over straight men too, but I preffer reading about not straight ones.

Then again, I've gotten into the opposite conversation with my boyfriend, and with his friends. Why does he like yuri so much? He doesn't have an answer either.

idk
it's sort of disgusting but who can stop fangirls?
even though it's weird, you have to admit it's hilarious what people can come up with
^_~

naughty boys for nice girls?
curiosity? it's a bit like a forbidden fruit.

there arent really many female characters so the reader doesnt really feel vunerable.
it also shows another side of love other than the typical hetero couple. there isnt the male protector, meaker female pairing that is so sterotypical.

:}

Well, personally I'm like you; although I don't mind watching it or reading about it either. I think it's because the whole "forbbiden love" concept comes into play - as that is not allowed in Japan. So, naturally humans want what they can't have.

Peronally, I don't care either way but I find it... um... a little "cool" I guess, but once again, that's because it's forbidden and that's what makes it "cool" to me. Although, everyone has their prefrences, so it's mainly up to them what they choose to like or hate.

Sometimes girls like to fantasize about things that men wouldn't normally do. Like men sometimes fantasize about girls making out and screwing each other some girls like to do the same thing

Good question. I'm an anime fan, and I detest yaoi for the same reason you do. If that's the lifestyle you choose, whatever, but I definitely don't feel comfortable watching it, cartoon or no.
