Well, the first one was my original love, the things I grew up with. The second set was cute, it had all of the pre-evolved stages. The third set started confusing me, but once I got Pokemon Emerald for the Gameboy Advance, it seemed cooler. The fourth set is when I gave up, Pokemon like Pikachu and Pidgey are long gone.
So, with that in mind, I prefer the original any day, (not to insult the other sets, well...maybe the last one) since that was the one I was proud to say "I can name all 150 Pokemon!"
I liked the 1st and 2nd because the pokemon were much well known back then. =]

1 and 2 were the best the originals 34 got to many new stuff
