People in Soul Society (or at least the people who need to eat due to spiritual powers) do age, but not quickly. Some of the captains are over 2,000 years old. I'm pretty sure Renji and Rukia are both around 400 now.
I think the children born in the soul society grow up....?

And in episode 63 I think, Byakuya says that Hisana (Rukias sister) and Rukia died when Rukia was a baby and I think they show a flashback with Hisana carrying Rukia on her back and then she abandoned Rukia.
It probably took hundreds of years for them to reach adulthood !!!!!!!!!!!!!

ppl in the soul society don't age as fast as ppl in the realm of the living, they stay kids for a hundred years or something till they look like teenagers.
