Need help remembering the name of a cartoon involving aliens and a mule?!

Question: So in the cartoon, a grandpa is telling his grandchildren a story about how aliens invaded the world. Most of what he says is said by the characters a second later, and later on he wins a mule and starts to say "it was me, and the mule" alot of times. Can anyone Please tell me the name of this classic cartoon!!!!

It was "Gramps", first aired in 1992 according to IMDb's, though I first saw it in the mid 1990's.

As I recall, the (female) President offered the farmer (the young gramps) with a bunch of things that could save the world from aliens, but the trick is that they are hidden inside boxes and he could only choose one box.

He choosed one of the boxes, which end up containing the mule, while the other unchosen boxes filled with other more destructive things (like raygun, missiles, etc).

Only classic cartoon I can recall that has a mule in it was "And her name was Maude". try searching on that. You can find an article on it in Toonopedia, that's where I first saw it. Good luck!
