Why do Naruto fans like Shikamaru so much?!
Question: I think that he's okay but all he can really do his shadow possesion .
I like characters like Gaara , Naruto , Neji , and Sasuke ones that actually do something cool , awesome , extraodinary .
Gaara - He has Shakaku / Awesome Sand Powers
Naruto - Kyuubi / Kage Bushin / Rasengan
Neji - Trigrams / Gentle fists
Sasuke - Curse Mark / Chidori
Shikamaru - all he has is shadow possesion and a brain
And who's to say that Naruto , Gaara , Neji , and Sasuke don't have brains

I like Shikamaru because of his laid-back personality, and I guess that charmed some of the Naruto fans as well. He's not really as strong as the characters you mentioned (I like them all too btw, but I only like Shippuuden Sasuke XD) but his intelligence and calmness really made up for his shortcomings. And I do agree that there are a lot of brainy characters in Naruto but Shika's lazy genius image is somewhat endearing.
Also, he is a very practical man who is a perfect contrast of more-into-action-characters like Naruto, but he is ready to fight til death when the situation requires him to. And that, my friend, is what makes him lovable to some of us.

well futher on in the story gaarra loses Shakaku, but will still be awesom at fithing. Shikamaru is funny always saying things are trouble some ^_^. and well he was the first one to become a chunin before the others.
but i am more a fan of naruto. ^_^.
im not sure. i like sasuke and gaara a lot more. shikamaru can be funny sometimes, but ya he seriously needs to learn a new technique or something.
some peoples favorite characters are the ones they can relate too more rather than the strongest ones with the flashiest moves
i'm more of a rock lee fan but Shika's definitely up there with one of the best characters.

Probably because of how lazy he actually is and how even though it seems he isn't doing anything is is very smart with his tactics and how they aren't all very fancy.

I guess i like him because his personality is so different from the other characters and he is relatable to (although i'm not quite to that extreme)

he's lazy and a genius. instead of using his technique the same way every time he actually thinks about strategy.
Gaara-smexi but has nothing without his Shukaku
Naruto-barley thinks of a strategy, he's the main character and he uses the same 2 moves every fight(kage bunshin and Rasengan)
Neji- nothing bad about him..good fighter good thinker
Sasuke-is gay
he's smart, lazy just like me, and he's got a hot chick (temari)
Errm well I like him for his attitude. Like, he's calm and smart and doesn't really have a short temper, I agree with the fact that he doesn't have that many jitsus but i think his mind and strategies make up for that. Also he's just plain awesome =D
Shikamaru - all he has is shadow possesion and a brain isn't that enough. He's much better than that idiot Sasuke who left the village.
I'm not sure one reason is that at time he is funny,but at he sometime is really smart and has an IQ of 200 and he is lazy which uncommon in Naruto,but I'm more of a Hinata fan anyway.
