The Death Note Anime Ending. What do you think?!

Question: I personally liked the ending, though a lot of people don't. I just finished Death Note, and I looked up a lot of people who watched it, and a lot of people didn't like the ending.
Peronsally, I thought it was funny how, even though Light thought he was no criminal and that he was a God, in the end he acts just like any other normal criminal.
Also, I liked how he called out to the people he used for help. How he had to pay for his actions to the people he had used.

I found it really symbolic and really satisfying, myself. We all knew Kira would have to die SOMETIME.
What do you think?

It was awesome... the last episode really tied in with the first episode... remember in the first episode that Ryuk said that "everybody who uses the Death Note eventually becomes miserable"? Well, it happened to Light, and that's the punishment for using he Death Note. In reality, he was a criminal, but in his eyes, he was a god. L and N tried their hardest to show Light this, but he kept on killing. I thought it was a perfect ending.

Misa, on the other hand, did not have a happy ending, for she committed suicide a year after Light died (was revealed in How to Read 13). However, she did use the Death Note as well, so she deserved it just as much as Light did.

It was an absolutely great ending... I love sad endings, so this is probably why I liked it so much. Coincidentally, I just finished Death Note as well!

I agree!

You're like one of the first people I have heard say that they liked the ending in the anime. I thought it was a well deserved end for Light. It was a twist, he thought he would win and would get a new world but Near out-smarted him.

I didn't like Light, I always thought he was a little too cocky, that was basically his end - if he wasn't so arrogant and hadn't said "It's my win" after the 40 seconds, it would not have been a justification that he was in fact Kira to Near.

Ha, I liked the way he died! Matsuda actually shot him - oh well he deserved it - and Ryuk played his part to the end. I'm glad Light died a slow and painful death XD Maybe it taught him that everything he did was wrong.

Although I feel sad for Misa, all she wanted was a normal life and when she finally got it - Light went and died. I assumed that Misa commited suicide by the way the ending went. Another person I didn't want to die was L! He was so crazy, I missed him after he was gone. Lol, even though Mello was a creep - I missed him too and his friend Matt seemed cool as well. Oo, Light killed so many innocent people! >.<

I agree, it was satisfying to watch Light die the way he did.

awesome

yea the ending was pretty good. because if kira WOULD have won and became god, what would the world be like? he was a criminal but a dam cool one. at least he went down fighting. i only didnt like how he never got credit for it. he was god for years and no one knew who he was. then he died and still only a few officers knew who kira really was. i thought that he should have like called a news statation or something before he died. but still a great show and a good ending

I found it satisfying enough. It cleared up the series in a decent enough way, and Ryuk completed the loop.

I absolutely hate it when anime leave on the vaguest note, yet fans love it because it's "deep" or something. I prefer Death Note's ACTUAL ending over some vague nonsese

Great ending...something that will be marked in peoples minds

made me cry, but was good... yes.
