Does this sound like a good manga story?!
Question: It is the year 2106. Global warming causes the water levels to rise. As a result the waves get larger all over the world. Surfing now becomes a major sport . A group of teenagers (highschool students four of them) make there own sports team and try to beat the local groups around town.Starting from the bottom they try to be the top surfers in the world...
Well that is just a start lol. So does it sound interesting? Any pointers? I know I need to make char, place, etc.

It seems like you have a pretty promising start! You have a lot of possibilities with that storyline! I haven't heard of a manga dealing with that topic before.
For example, you could add in some things about global warming. Like what happens when the water levels get to high and the teens' passion turns into their greatest enemy?
You could make it into a dark humor sort of story, like they're utilizing something that everyone sees as negative in a positive way. Maybe other people look down on them for trying to enjoy the waves, which everyone else is afraid of.
It could be comedy, action, anything! Great start! I would love to see how this plays out.
[edit] I think that's a good idea; to write a short story first! That way, you can get a feel for the characters and the setting. You'll be able to develop distinct personalities and subplots. It'll be easier to transpose it into manga panels.

I'll like to read it.but maybe you should add other problems because if it's just about surfers it may get boring.
Its good... just when ur writing don't make it too cheesy and give them good personalities. You need to give them motives and add some drama too.
