I don't think the times are right for a live action film featuring The Legion of Superheroes. I doubt the times would ever be right for such a film. I like the Legion a good deal, especially before it was subjected to numerous "reboots" which were designed to fix things that were deemed problematic after "Crisis on Infinite Earths." Basically, the Legion lost a good number of its fans during said reboots, and didn't make many new ones during the same period, and there simply aren't enough Legion fans to make a film about the Legion popular enough to justify its cost. A Legion film would be a bad investment.
As far as who my favorite character would be if a live action Legion film were to be made, a poor movie wouldn't effect my opinions about various Legionaries. Cosmic Boy, my favorite of the three founding members, would remain my favorite. He always has been, and probably always will be. I'm also fond of Colossal Boy, Brainiac 5, Saturn Girl, Lightning Lad, Phantom Girl, Karate Kid, and the human version of Princess Projectra. There are also several Legionaries I have never been able to stand, but you didn't ask about that subject, so I won't go into it.
