Why did the UK and US have different DragonBall/Z/GT dubs?!

It was probably cheaper to pay someone else. FUNimation probably didn't see much potential in keeping the license for outside of the US or something.
They were FUNimation in the UK aswell until the Frieza saga, perhaps longer - can't really recall. Anyway, the UK dubs were worse than the FUNi dubs, which is really saying something.
UK and Canada had the Blue water dub ( not sure, if it's right), whereas the US had the Funimation. It's probbably for money and contract reasons. Although the Funimation was better with the dubbing, the B W dub left the original soundtrack which is better.
