i love anime... and i have for 4 yrs now.... you should try watching it. there are sooo many genres to choose from. there are ones based on music, and dancing and fashion and art, and others action and fantasy and romance and singing. there are ones about sports and ninja and show biz. and cooking... there are sooo many types of anime!!!
i have seen sooo many these past 4 yrs... and i can honestly say that nothing compares to the feeling you get when you are really interested in one.... ^^
oh... and you cant say you hate it if youve never tried it.... you should seriously try one based on the things you like....
like you might want to ask a question later on saying (in example) "are there any romantic animes with fashion based theme?" and you can try that out. first you should choose something that you have an interest in....
also... just to let you know... there are more teen and above type anime out there... its not just little kid stuff....

Maybe you just didn't saw any or so a wrong one. You may hate the way of animation but the stories are wonderful, interesting and inspiring.
Ok there are 3 reasons why i hate anime...
1.) It makes no sense at all! My brother spends hours on the computer watching anime reruns from Japan with subtittles when I can actually be doing something productive. It makes no sense at all they speak Japanese and fight. Is that what modern day television is about?? Didnt think so.
2.) Its violent. Now ever since my brother started watching those anime shows, he comes up to me and starts kicking and punching me while saying "kume-kume-HA!"...like what the heck is that supposed to mean?
3.) It is wayy too popular. Now whenever I flip the channel, there's always anime on or anime stories on the freakin news!!! Like I thought anime was Japanese....not American!!

MY BROTHER!!! Anime SUCKS! Only thing I can figure is, there is a whole subclass of folks out there who get aroused by big ol' heads, freakishly giant eyes, and tiny, upturned button noses. Comic books died around 1980.
I bet you're the kind of person who likes makup and fashion and for the life of me I can't understand that either! I wear what I want and watch what I want.
I love anime because it's not like ordinary things I see on tv in the US. The plots are almost always so amazing and creative and anything can happen in an anime so it can be very exciting. Besides, there are so many kinds of anime nobody should be able to say "I hate anime" unless they've seen every one. I admit there are some I don't like but there are many more I love.
P.S. to *cutie*pie*, the one w/ the 3 reasons. Anime isn't just about fighting for the heck of it. A lot of animes don't even have those big battles. Each character has a reason for being the way they are so don't judge.
And anime may be made in Japan but it's something enjoyed by many people around the world. At least your brother found something he loves.

Hate is such a strong word. But I guess in this society people use it so freely without even thinking.
I love anime. I'm a grown professional adult who works in a hospital. I know many other medical and law enforcement professionals who love anime also.
I'm sorry you do dislike it so much. There are going to be interests in this world you may be into that some others may find "materialistic", "self-absorbed" and "unconscionable".
i like it because i do. i cant explain why, but its just awesome and i love it. some shows i dont understand, but most of them i do! people think im weird cuz i dont understand crap like "the hills" and "laguna beach". well i just think most animes have sooo much better of story lines and more interesting characters.
I don't hate anime, but with the exception of a few of the movie length animes, which are complete in a few hours, there aren't many I'll watch.
Basically, what most people mean when they refer to anime are just animated serials. Most of the one exported to America appear to be aimed at a middle school audience, but some are aimed at a high school aged crowd. There are artistic conventions to animes that take awhile to get used to, and some to have foreign sensibilities that aren't easy to adjust to, but they obviously work well enough for the target audience. You would have to watch several episodes of any particular anime several times to get an idea of what is going on, which can be like trying to watch episodes of a soap opera with which you aren't familiar, and the effort may not justify the end.
I don't think most fans of any particular anime series will remain fans of that series for a terribly long time. There certainly appears to be a faddish aspect to the more popular animes, and that popularity will wane, but anime appears to be a way of life for a fairy small group of viewers. I expect certain series to wax and wane in popularity, but I think anime will probably prove popular enough with enough of an audience that they will remain a narrowcasting television staple for another decade. Maybe.
I'd say if you don't like them, don't watch them. I don't.

Is it just me or have there been more and more trolls showing up on this forum? I don't know why I should have to continue to defend my favorite form of entertainment. If you've got a beef change the channel or take it out on your "happiness bunny" (inside anime joke).

how would you know that you hate it? i guess you haven't tried it that's why. i mean many people say they hate someone or something without even knowing them. can i ask you just two questions? first is have you really try to watch an anime? second, why do you hate anime, because hating anime without a reason is non sense.
also if some people think anime is just childish, watch shounen anime. you won't be able to last watching violence i guess. however, there are anime that are not violent at all, just like a books, anime comes in different categories. that reminds me it's also like people too, we are judge by the environment we're on. just like you judging anime, like you've known it for a long time.

Have an open mind, everyone has their own opinion. And technically, anime is just like, Japanese cartoons. Also, some anime series can be horrible, but others can be awsome. It really depends on what anime you are watching.

Anime has a lot of different genres and so it appeals to different tastes.
Even though I love anime I don't love all animes.
I hate violet ones like Naruto or Bleach but I love dramatic romantic ones like Full Moon wo Sagashite or Fruits Basket.
