What is the best anime?!
Question: There isn't a "best" one. How can you rate one work of art as better than another. Each has its own individual merits. And of course something like that is relative. What I consider the best is a matter of my own personal tastes.
Now if you asked "what is your favourite anime", then that's a different matter altogether. I rate Miyazaki's Spritied Away, Porco Rosso and Kiki's Delivery Service pretty highly. I really enjoyed some episodes of Pokemon (although the majority are pretty ordinary). When I was a kid I thought Astro Boy was very good. That's the very first anime and where the whole genre started.

I would have to say Death Note. It was awesome followed by Avatar and Naruto.

My vote goes to Miyazaki's "Castle In the Sky" or FLCL, but those are just my favorites, there's plenty of other worthy animes out there.
Naruto and Ouran High School Host Club
For me, Neon Genesis Evangelion is my overall favorite.
For the romantic comedy/ magical girlfriend, I like the Tenchi Muyo franchise.
