her songs off her first album were so catchy and one was also used for a japanese tv show...in fact, 1 out of every 20 japanese households owns her first album..and she was just marketed so well, as well her mom was a famous singer so she's got some fame for that.
Same reason why so many other musicians are popular and some aren't.
Good marketing campaign.
