Im just answer for 2 points, this is a stupid question.
I miss them, yes. But shows tend to stop running once all that can be made off of them has been made. As in, if a show is not getting good ratings anymore, then advertisers won't support it. If the show's merchandice doesn't still sell, then the companies don't care about airing it. Also, sometimes copyrights expire. For example, in Sailor Moon's case, it used to belong to DiC, but then Pioneer did, and I think now ADV owns the rights to sell the DVDs. Except when the live action show began to air in Japan, Toei asked that all rights expire on a certain date, in order to ensure that the newer show succeeded and the DVDs and toys sold. (If everyone watched the old stuff, they'd lose some of the audience.)
In short, newer things sell better, and that's why the older shows aren't still showing. But sometimes cable will pick up the popular ones. Toonami showed Sailor Moon, and Adult Swim, but then newer shows like Naruto, Inuyasha, and whatever else is current have replaced it. TV Ratings generally determine what stays on the air, because the advertisers will pay the most for those slots.
