Villain or bad a** protaganist in an Anime?!
Question: I'm looking for animes where the main character is a villain or bad a**. Cruelty, Ruthlessness, are major pluses. He can be the redeemable villain (I like this)) like Vegeta was or Father Nightroad in Trinity Blood, even a sense of humor is cool - as long as he's the main character and still 'not a particularly nice guy'
(Notice:) Things that the protaganist might do in said anime:
*Slap his friends around
*Do bad things to good people
*Be really brutal when it comes to revenge on the antagonist(s)
*Kill/steal/maim or otherwise do whatever he wants.
Or simply change into a wicked looking brutal type of person/creature/thing ala Father Nightroad style.
(Notice2:) "I'm a lone wolf, I dont talk alot so I must be mysterious and cool" Is -not- what I'm looking for. I see that alot. Just because a character is bishonen or mysterious does'nt make him a bad a**.
Any combo would be great. I'd really appreciate some help on this. I've stumped all my close friends already.

light yagami- main character of death note. he kills people to create a "better world"
itachi uchiha- from naruto. he killed his whole family to test his strength.
Terumichi Madoka- from gilgamesh. everyone blames him for being the one to cause the state of the world they live in. others dont. in the end he kills his own son and basically ends the world.
cosette- from petite cosette. though she looks like a little doll she continuoysly tortures eri, a man who has the soul of the guy who killed her years before.
saiyuki reload- the priest sanzo (main character) is one bad asz priest. he will shoot without thinking about it, let alone flinching.
kumiko from gokusen- this woman may appear to be nothing more than a high school teacher, but she is actually the oujo of the uedo yakuza, and one scary woman to piss off ^^ she kicks major butt ^^

EDIT: someone similar to father nightroad is the main character of teh anime desendants of darkness. though, like the father, he seems clumsy and all that.... when he is pusehd to that limit while fighting.. he becomes a terror! a demon even! (he kinda is a demon...) hes really smiilar to him ^^
EDIT: vincent law from ergo proxy ^^ he is a kind hearted man.... until he turns into his true form: ergo proxy. in that form he is a rutheless killer ^^

I would say Itachi but he is not a main character.
theres a very old series, berserk, the lead character is not a saint, but he is a soldier forced to do some crazy things. its very blood and gore and killing and its kinda deep. you can probably find it in a video store or even online, its a bit old but if you're looking for anti-heroes, theres a few of em in there.

the main character Alucard taunts his opponents by letting them think they've beat the crap out of him, then he comes back and slaughters them. He is very powerful and kick ***
definitely something to consider
watch the Hellsing Ultimate Ova's, they are better then the actualy series
