What's disturbing is that I was thinking about this last night...

The point of making the protagonist in these movies seem downtrodden (Nemo also is "disabled" with his lucky fin, Belle, Aladdin, and Lilo are all poor, Snow White and Cinderella are practically disowned by their step-mothers) is to make a more compelling case for the protagonist "earning" the good that comes their way. The audience gets a bigger reaction from the underdog winning the race than seeing the 10-time champion win.

In another interesting look, these stories, although many originated from other cultures, are very American in their themes. The poor can get rich from the American Dream! Good breaks happen!

Many of these stories seem like age-appropriate Horatio Alger tales.

Wow, thats kinda creepy, never realized that before....

You forgot Jungle Book. And Disney films are FULL of subliminal messaging and adult-only comments. For example look at the star-gazing scene in the Lion king - see how many words you can see in the stars. O.o

no,

It's odd, but think about it. Parents always get in the way of adventures.

Believe it!

What I find disturbing about Disney movies is the fact that up until a few years ago every movie, even the modern ones, were stuck in the genre of the 1930's movie musical.

Also... you may want to consider that most of the stories that the so called "Disney" movies that you cite, are not really "Disney" at all. They are stories of fairy tales, books, etc. They are really just the "Disney" movie musical version of the story. Disney has very few original ideas.

There are only THREE disney movies were both parents are present the entire movie.. I forget what three they are but I remember hearing that at a tour at Disney World one day...

Sleeping Beauty
Meet the Robinsons
Little Mermaid
Pochahontas
Mulan

Usually, the classics were made out of the biggest fairy tales known. We are so used wathcing Disney that we forgot the real version of the stories. For example, Sleeping Beauty has a quit cruel ending. Same goes for Little Mermaid.

We live in a physical world run by spiritual forces.
It's important to understand as much as we can about the spiritual forces that intend to direct and try to control our lives and our childrens lives.
Mass media has been a great force used by the world to influence children as well as parents. Remember the images that you allow in, tend to become real. Think about that.
