cartoon network began showing the anime september 9, 2006 and as of october 20, 2007, it has gone into hiatus.
im not sure but if you have cable they started the episodes again they are on episode 2 now. more then likely they have been out for a while, they normally get released in japan then they bring it here. thats what they did with naruto too.
The first episode "A Shinigami is Born!" aired October 5th, 2004 in Japan and September 8, 2006 in the U.S. .
It ended in Japan with Episode 20 "Gin Ichimaru's Shadow" on February 22, 2005 and in the U.S. on January 26, 2007
