Does the Griffin family understand Stewie? Read description first!?!
Question: Okay. I started watching Family Guy within the past couple months, and I really think this show is funny.
There's episodes where Stewie talks and other people understand what he's saying. For instance, when Brian went back to Brown University, the Emo roomate walked in and said he wanted the top bunk. Stewie started talking, and the Emo backed out of the room...fully understanding him. But in other cases no one understands Stewie.
I know Brian, the dog, fully understands Stewie, but what about the rest of the family??? Is this the joke?

Sometimes he's understood, but mostly not. The lack of consistancy is a joke in itself, and the show sometimes even makes reference to it.

Good question. There is an episode where Peter actually has a conversation with Stewie. Doesn't happen very often but some characters do understand him.
they think that stewies plaing around cos he never harms them did u notice that but hes wiling to harm the dog and other outside people so they don't beleive his threats
I have been wondering this for 2 years! I think only Brian does but I really don't get that either.
it's almost the same thing as in the beginning of the show, the theme song...Does stewie say EFFIN cry or laugh and cry. I'll used the closed caption on it before and it's said both so I don't know what it is. It's not supposed to make sense. It's family guy. I've been watching it for years.
I love Family Guy. I was thinking the exact same thing the other day. I think they understand him, but like, I mean, like when Brian kept on peeing on the floor and everyone thought it was Stewey, he kept on saying it wasn't but, they kept on thinking it was him. But other times it seems like they might, but they don't think anything of it because it's such a dysfunctional family. And I think Meg and Chris understand him... maybe. Because when it was Stewey's birthday, Chris asked him if he wanted ice cream, and he said, "Yes, but for every sprinkle, I shall kill you." And Chris is still alive. So, I guess, yeah, they can. omgosh im watching it right now. and i was wondering the same thing. i think they understand him, but just overhear it because they are so stupid.
No the only people in the family that really don't understand stewie are meg and lois. Techanilly I think stewie hates his mother and makes fun of his sister enough that it results in them not hearing him.(but that's my personal opinion)
Haha, who knows. Brian does, and other children do. Lois usually responds when he talks, but she interprets what he is saything through his body language (from what I've observed). Meg and Chris can, though, at least in one episode.
And random people can too, like the guys from the CIA...
From what I've seen, Brian, other babies, and odd characters can understand him. Loius can also understand him but only when it isn't very important. (She ignores/ deosn't hear the threats)
thats a very good question...ive wondered if the rest of the family could understand Stewie ever since i started watching it
i think that Lois, Peter, Meg and Chris dont understand him...
cuz when he says thats hes going to kill lois...no one cares
i also think that since hes a baby..no one pays attention to wut hes trying to tell ppl
and yes it is part of the joke...
everything on Family Guy is so random...thats one of the very few consistent things...
it is an awesome show tho
