Sasori used to be a part of the hidden village of the sand. He is a puppeteer and obsesses with his battle puppets. He created the puppets Kankurou uses, Karusu, Kuroari, and Sanshouuo.
Akasun Sasori's alias is Akasuna no Sasori, which literally translated means - Sasori of the Red Sand.

They aren't related though, same village.

Sasori, although he originally was from Suna, is NOT related to Gaara and his siblings in any way. He was Grandma Chiyo's grandson, but Grandma Chiyo is also not Gaara's grandmother or something - she was merely the one who infused Gaara with Shukaku. Father of all the Sand Siblings - Temari, Kankurou and Gaara - is the Fourth Kazekage.
Do not be fooled by those rumours. People who have known Naruto by heart should not fall into pointless, unproven traps. =^_^=
i could give you a summary of sasori-no-dama's life,but i figure i'll just answer the question. :) . It's actually impossible,since Sasori is actually around the age 0f 35-40. And we also know who his parents are.
