Fan sub process?!

Question: Step by Step

Answers: Step by Step

Actually I'm not sure about it.... but there are a few things I was sure of. Whatever. I'll just search on the Net.

1. Get the raw version of the video. There are several sites that provide raws, one popular site is Saiyaman. The raws can only be obtained through BT clients.

http://bt.saiyaman.info/

Some episodes cannot be obtain easily from this site though (since Saiyaman only provides raws for certain animes like Naruto and Bleach), so if you can't find the anime you're looking for, you may have to find another site that provides raws. Some anime are also not released in raws until after a few days, so...

2. Translating the episode. This normally takes time, and requires knowledge in Japanese speaking. The dialogues are then written in a separate sheet of paper for the next process. This is the hardest process of all, since translators need to fully understand Japanese language and be able to distinguish the written Kanji, or puns in the episodes.

3. Timing. It's to determine when the subtitles are added into the dialogue. Some longer speeches and lines will have to be split, so although it looks easy, it's actually not.

4. Editing. An editor does these things - check the spelling and grammar for the subtitles, errors in timing and the like....

5. Typesetting. This is where subtitles are written and added, karaoke effects are being made, plus some side informations. Basically, the written text adder.

6. Encoding. To make the best-quality episode, encoders must get the highest quality possible, determine the frame-rate for the typesetting and subtitling and able to check the errors in a raw.

7. Quality-check.

8. Re-encoding and another quality-check. This is done after quality check before it was released. People want to be satisfied with what they've done, right?

9. After all are done, and subbers are satisfied with the outcome, then it will be released on the Internet.....

I got this info from Anime-Empire website, and I'm by no means one of the subbers since I don't do it, directly or indirectly. Refer to this website for more info:

Have a nice day. =^_^=

First you'll need to download the RAW episode to your hard drive.

Next, you'll need video editing software, Ulead or Windows Movie Maker, or whatever you prefer to use.

Then, you open the video and add the text where necessary. Depending on the software you use, this can be done a number of different ways. Usually, you just add a text box in the overlay and you'll need to input a time slot for the box to be displayed.

When you're finished with the editing, you just save and upload to a site.

Hope that was helpful.
