Sorry if that made anyone mad but telling someone "There's more to life than watching silly little cartoons" or whatever sounds like such a plastic/snobbish-person comment! And to most teenagers it seems that watching fake shows and spending $90 on pre-ripped jeans is all that matters. -_-;
Seriously. Anime is just another form of entertainment... if they don't like it, then they need to mind their own business and stop ruining other people's fun.
Did someone really say that to you? If not, I can totally believe someone making that kind of comment, I have heard it TONS of times. If people took the time to watch anime they would see it's much more than just 'silly cartoons.'

I would not give that jerk the satisfaction that his remark got under my skin. I would just give him a smirk laugh, look at him up and down and just walk away. Most people who make negative comments in a manner of a 2nd grader want a response they know will insinuate a heated debate/fight. Give yourself the upper hand and not sink to that level the jerk expects.
i'd probably throw a temper trantrum. When that happens, i yell in the person's face, start throwing stuff at them, and scream as loud as i can. I can't stand it if someone says something like that! it makes me SO mad. They usually end up fearing me, and not talking to me at all, and they usually end up walking away seriously hurt. I'm a bad girl ^^
