The Melancholy of Haruhi is rated MA15+ in Australia, do you agree with that?!
Question: Personally, I don't think it should be rated MA15+. That's a bit much, don't you think? There's a bit of groping (maybe not a bit, poor Mikuru), but it's not too bad. I've probably seen worse.

Hmmm.... Considering that most people under 15 years wouldn't understand the jokes in it, it would made sense.
Though maybe it should have been M instead, since M15+ is longer used.
However it's pretty much irrelevant, since most people under 15 wouldn't be interested in it anyway. Though that would mean still mean its fans of14 years and younger would be still upset they can't buy it on their own.
And yes, it's actually 'cleaner' than others who got a lower age rating. Though I think that it might have gotten a higher age rating due how much harassment Mikuru got and also on how she reacted (a good nice girl like her is discouraged in 'developed countries').
As for ratings.
It's more due to politics than the actual contents and the rules.
For example, "Beowulf" in the U.S.A. under normal rule should have gotten an R rating, however the studio pulled some strings and it gotten a PG-13 rating instead.
A studio can also pull some strings to get a higher age rating or even a ban to get more publicity, only then to rerelease a 'new' version of it under a lower age rating.
Nah, that is a bit harsh. I'm sure the rating is entirely for poor little Mikuru... Maybe a whatever the 12+ one is.
