i agree!! american cartoons is getting more stupid and more idiotic because the creator(s) think that americans demands stupid and idiotic things. well i think this is stupid. the old cartoons is something that kids and adults used to enjoy. but now, these meaningless cartoons is viewed because they enjoy violence and stupidity. more people turn into anime, boomerang, and education because these cartoons make people watching it stupider. so people turn to more complex stuff(anime) or watching replays of the past(boomerang)

anime was better

I agree. Cartoons now have no morals and are stupid. And I like anime a lot better too.

agree

My son was watching Scooby Doo and there was an episode with the Addams Family about a voodoo doll. I think the world has changed therefore cartoons have changed, too.

i don't even watch cartoons anymore

I agree with everybody who says Anime... I like bleach, Inuyasha, cowboy bebop, Sailor Moon, used to watch transformers, pokemon, and yugioh....

I also Liked alot of Hanabarbara cartoons too. I liked johnny quest, and smurfs, scooby, Gardfeild, ect

brcuz some are just plains stupid like....Bo bo bo or something but yea anime is btter =D

Anime beats out the american cartoons any day.

You look hard but you can still find some good cartoon... My favourite recent cartoon was Jimmy Neutron. I thought that it was intelligently funny.

I believe that American cartoons are at rock bottom. Why else do you see Japanese cartoons on the tv? An example would be Yu-gi-oh and Pokemon which is known by all. The types that are chosen to be viewed on public channels are as close to american cartoons as they come. Anime (Japanese cartoons) that is shown on adult swim and toonami (whatever its called now) involve some adult themes such as mild violence and language. But the kind of shows that are sweet and innocent can be found in anime where people just live their lives with their little problems and they all find the solution in their own ways. Anime is better than american cartoons. Consider the old cartoons dead. America wants the children to take in the world problems without the cursing, drugs, and booze.

I agree. Today cartoons are just running out of ideas and are turning to idiotic ideas.

However, I love anime, so my opinion on the violence isn't going to help much...

I think a lot of yesterday's cartoons were mostly about violence too... Looney Tunes and Tom and Jerry and the Pink Panther were all pretty violent I think. It doesn't make them any less awsome though. And if you say that the Flinstones weren't violent, I'd have to disagree. Fred usually hit Barney over the head.

But I do think a lot of the shows on Nickelodeon and Disney Channel kind of suck and really can't compare to the cartoons of the 90s (like Doug and Ren and Stimpy). Although, I do rather like Fosters.

There's always been violence in cartoons, some more than others. I think the violence in today's cartoons are over the top and maybe it's because they appeal to the idiot mentality % of people who are entertained by the likes of Steve O and Johnny(Jackass)Knoxville and as long as there's an audience for that crap the cartoons will continue to reflect it. I'm from the generation that grew up on all the Hanna Barbara and the MGM cartoons which they still show and I still watch. and I'd choose those cartoons over the ones that are produced today everytime.
