Actually not as many as you would think. Only teens with younger siblings know a little bit about anime. The majority of the kids in my high school have mainly older brothers and sisters and don't know what anime is. Or they just don't watch the 'kid's' channel, such as YTV, cause that's the core of where you watch dubbed animations.
I've loved anime since I was a kid, that's why I still watch it now. Some people I have talked to know what it is, but have discontinued watching it.
Whereas some people who do watch it, probably don't know that it orignates from Japan and the voices are dubbed and what not.
All in all, I would say that there is a chance that 45% - 50% of teens know what anime is and 40% still watch it.

Yep...all because of Naruto, DBZ, and YuGiOh.
Little Kids know it, as well as most of the kids in my grade.
I this most kids know about Pokemon and Yugioh and Naruto but don't relize its anime.
There's a growing number of anime fans due to the English dubbed anime released in television today, but not all know what anime IS, that is, japanese animation, and I know a lot of people who are fans of one anime but don't dig any deeper than liking the show and some of the charas. Most of those people I know don't even know what manga or cosplay are.
But thanks to the Internet and all its anime-related web pages,
there are more stuff for anime fans to indulge in than ever!

kids/teens watch anime but don't notice it. As many ppl in my school watch DBZ but dont notice it is anime.And anime is sometimes scarce in places
no they dont, thanks be to naruto, they sit and watch that garbage and think its the best thing since sliced breat when really its probubly one of the worst animes in the history of the earth.
